This is a 24-month program beginning July 1 of each year. Three (3) positions per year are available.

Application

The application deadline is October of the year preceding matriculation. The program participates in both the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS) and the Postdoctoral Dental Matching Program. Applicants to this program must apply through PASS and the National Matching Service.

Description

Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program is a two year hospital-based program which combines advanced clinical and didactic instruction in pediatric dentistry. Hospital rotations include Pediatric Medicine (Inpatient and Ambulatory), Anesthesia, and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Residents will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive care to a large, diverse patient population including healthy children as well as special needs children and adults.

Curriculum

The clinical curriculum includes clinical practice in comprehensive pediatric dentistry, behavior management, care for special needs patients, preventive and interceptive orthodontics, trauma management, and advanced treatment modalities including nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia, conscious sedation, and general anesthesia.

The didactic curriculum complements the clinical curriculum with a variety of courses, lectures, literature review sessions, and seminars.

Program Stipend and Tuition

First year stipend is $61,670.32. Second year stipend is $64,220.69. Tuition is waived.

Facilities

All clinical education including rotations are conducted on-site at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center.
